πŸŽ–πŸ’œ OUR SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER is Former Prisoner of War Jessica Lynch who was serving as a unit supply specialist with the 507th Maintenance Company when her convoy was ambushed by Iraqi troops. Lynch was seriously injured during the attack and taken prisoner by Iraqi soldiers. Lynch’s subsequent recovery by U.S. Special Operations Forces on April 1, 2003, was the first successful rescue of an American prisoner of war since World War II and the first ever of a woman. On July 22, 2003, Lynch was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Prisoner of War Medal.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ HONORING THE HEROES AMONG US: Join us as we honor and thank all who have served at the 2024 AURORA VETERANS DAY PARADE on Monday, November 11 at 10:15 a.m. The parade route will be on Downer Place between Water Street Mall and Stolp Ave. Immediately following the parade, all units and guests will gather for the Veterans Day Ceremony. The main stage for the parade announcements and ceremony will be located at 23 E. Downer Place.

Oswego Veterans Day Happenings 

On November 11, the Oswego American Legion will be hosting their annual Veteran Day Ceremony to honor all who have served our country. The ceremony will be held at the Oswego Veterans Memorial Plaza, 1 Main Street, in downtown Oswego at 11 a.m.

There will be remarks from the Village President and Commander of Legion Post 675. The posting of colors, bagpipe music and firing party will be presented by the Oswego Police Department and Oswego Fire Protection District.

In observance of Veterans Day, Village facilities will be closed on November 11.
