Halloween Happenings
The Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting Spooktacular this Saturday, October 26 in Downtown Plainfield.
Halloween is Thursday, October 31 and trick-or-treating hours will be from 4-8 p.m. As families make plans for trick-or-treating, the Village and Police Department would like to share some helpful safety guidelines.

Medication Disposal
The Police Department is participating in the DEA National Takeback Day this Saturday, October 26. You can dispose of unwanted medications at the Law Enforcement Center from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. For more information regarding this event, click here.

Old Town North Roadway Reconstruction
The Lockport Street traffic control pattern is scheduled to change the week of October 28. Westbound traffic will be maintained but shifted to the south lane. Please be alert. Once traffic is switched, crews will begin work on the north half of the roadway.

Early Voting
Early Voting at the Village Hall continues through November 1. Voting hours are Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for Will County residents. For information on other early voting locations, please contact the Will County Clerk at 815-740-4615 or visit willcountyclerk.gov. For information on early voting in Kendall County, visit kendallcountyil.gov.

127th Street Bridge
The bridge parapets have been installed and the contractor is in the process of removing all concrete forms. Work has begun on the roadway approaches to the bridge. Asphalt patching and paving are scheduled for next week. Bridge deck grooving, guardrail installation, and pavement markings are expected to take place next week and be completed prior to the bridge opening. Please continue to follow the designated detour route or use an alternate route.

DuPage River Restoration Project
Homer Tree Service has begun to clear invasive species and underbrush throughout the project site. Trail users should proceed with caution while in the area, particularly where mats have been placed for equipment to cross the trail. Clearing work is expected to last through the end of next week. River users are reminded that beginning November 1, the DuPage River will be closed between 135th Street and Renwick Road. Visit the project website for more information.

Indian Boundary Bridge & Roadway Reconstruction
The storm sewer installation has been completed. Creek channel work and roadway ditch grading will be finished this week. Roadway work is scheduled to start next week. Indian Boundary Road remains closed to through traffic between Rowley Road and Creekside Drive. Local access will be provided only to homes and businesses within the project limits.

Yard Waste Reminders
Please do not rake leaves into the street; they can block the storm sewers. Instead, place them in yard waste bags or a yard waste cart and put them at the curb on your refuse collection day.
Yard waste collection runs through the second week in December.
